Plentiful Parrots
Flocks of parrots were all over the island. Certain times of the day they would call to each other and get very noisy.

Beautiful birds were everywhere. They were fun to watch as they scurried about their daily business. Shown here are the kookaburra, the pheasant coucal, the nankeen night heron, the yellow bellied sunbird, the dusky moorhen, the brush stone curlew, and a kookaburra that is proudly showing off the worm that it caught for breakfast.
The view of the Great Barrier Reef from the air was spectacular. It gave us a true perspective of just how large an area the reef encompasses.
We had the whole diving pontoon to ourselves for the next few hours. We pulled on our wetsuits, jumped into the water, and began to explore the different lifeforms in and around the reef.
The fish seemed to be checking us out while we were checking them out. The diversity of life along the reef was amazing.
The reef had a great deal of biodiversity. We covered a lot of area in a small semi-submersible ship.
There were some interesting sand flats on Hayman Island. Every afternoon the tide went out and a variety of sea life could easily be explored.
