More Temple of the Emerald Buddha

Wat Phra Kaew is considered to be the most sacred temple in Thailand. There are many buildings in the temple complex and each is very elaborately decorated. The walls in one area have 178 scenes in a beautiful mural with paintings from epic Thai stories written during the reign of King Rama I.

Grand Palace

The Grand Palace was built to be the official residence for the King of Thailand in 1782 and served that function until 1925. The palace also provided offices for government officials. Currently, the buildings are still used for ceremonies and official events.

Blast from the Past

Check out these photos that were taken in Bangkok in August of 1982. You will easily recognize the background buildings as the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, but you may not recognize the people in the photos...vintage Robin and Steve.

Heading for Home

The time had come to pack our bags, take a shuttle boat across the river, and head for the airport. We stood in the line for passport control behind a group of Buddhist monks and then boarded our flight for home.
